Description:

While these creatures tend to appear similar to Seyarans, no direct line has been found connecting the two. But Giants tend to have an affinity for violence and strength. While they are rumored to be dumb, Giants are actually just as intelligent as other species. Their language is rather simple in noises used which gives this false impression that they merely grunt at each other. Furthermore, most Giants tend to be binocular, in rare cases some are born as cyclopic.

Giants do have both male and females of their race and reproduce sexually, giving birth to a live child. Giants can also reproduce with most other species, creating Half Giants which stand between eight to twelve feet tall. It is highly suggested that the mother be the giant or complications during birth can lead to child death or mother death due to the size of the baby and the strain it puts on a smaller mother. Giants hit physical maturity at thirteen years of age, and Half Giants typically around fifteen. Otherwise, the children are much like big Seyaran kids: clumsy, loud, and hungry.

Culture:

As a social creature, Giants need socialization and get very aggressive when lacking it. Which lends itself to the angry lone giant in a cave legend. Their society is very carnivorous, preferring to hunt giant animals like Mammoths and Whales for food. Contrary to belief, they do not eat smaller races unless absolutely desperate for food. This is because there is little actual edible meat on most other species of sentients. They tend to prefer to make caves into homes and use large stones to keep the entrance secure. Shepherding is a common profession as well, typically of sheep or mammoths for wool and milk.

Also in Giant culture, a cyclops is typically considered as an omen, sometimes a good one or sometimes a bad one. It depends on a lot of conditions, but it mostly relies on a feeling of the mother when she first sees the child.

Adaptations:

Their larger size makes them much stronger than most other races, but often at the cost of mobility. They tend to have tougher, leathery skin that helps protect themselves instead of armor.

Other Info:

  • Giants love to revel. Most nights after a hunt end around a central fire with lots of drinking, shouting, and what passes as singing.
