Description:

The name aptly summarizes what a Construct is. It is a created species. There exist two branches: Non-Organic Constructs and Organic Constructs. This is not to be confused with the Keristine which are not actually constructed — at least not anymore — though they appear to be.

Non-Organic Constructs are clockwork or magical, taking the forms of whatever their creator wanted. They tend to be crystalline, for magic only, or a clockwork housing for a soul. Most fully sentient constructs are shaped in a humanoid fashion, but sometimes they serve as familiars, assistants, and beyond. They cannot make more of their kind without constructing them like they were, but they otherwise are unable to reproduce. They lack genders as well, though they may be designed to look like a certain gender of humanoid or creature. These require a state like sleeping to recharge just like any other species which costs an equivalent to eating for a normal species. This sleep can be delayed, putting them into a low power state (fatigue). They can remain awake for the duration, but moving drains their power and pauses recharge, making them good for holding watch. It is highly suggested to take the disease immunity perk when playing this species. Otherwise, you can still be affected by them. Airborne afflictions and the like still affect you, but may do so differently than normal.

Organic Constructs are usually made up of living compounds. This can be your Frankenstein’s Monster, Flubber, or magical clone. Since not all of these are the same, the diet and form can vary wildly. However, all organic constructs need some kind of energy source to survive. This can be magical, food, or other. They do not need to sleep so long as they maintain enough energy. They do breathe, but the method doesn’t need to emulate humanoid or other breathing and can be done either similarly to humanoid species, through the skin, or similar. Usually, Organic Constructs cannot reproduce, but some do have the capability.

Culture:

Most constructs adapt the culture of their creator. This includes their racial language, customs, and manners. They do not need to hold the ideals of the creator, unless forced to, and it seems just as polarized as it is with a normal parent and child. Constructs that are given freedom sometimes struggle with their existence and what their purpose is.

Adaptations:

Depending on what the creator needed, this can vary. Some can fly, change form, recall vast databases, and more.

Other Info:

  • The inventor of the modern airship was a non-organic construct named Arvosi “Tick Tock” Hannath. She matches the appearance of a Seyaran female rather well, thus many refer to her as a she. She still functions to this day, at roughly three hundred years old.

  • Lok’kal constructs magical stone guardians to protect their tombs and inter their dead.
