Avg. Height: Varies

Avg. Weight: Varies

Avg. Life Expectancy: Unknown

Description:

Anagenasi came about mostly in a quick attempt to preserve a city full of people from a disease inflicted upon them. In the quick thinking of Glue, he managed to connect them all to a Xalic and drain away its regeneration into them as they entered a comatose state which was a shared dream of living in the city. During this state, the people were attached to each other by plants and began to change in appearance. When adventurers found them and woke them out of their slumber one hundred years later, many didn't have time to adjust to their changes before they were fleeing their home from a Xalic attack. Because of this emergence as a new separate race, Anagenasi look vastly different depending on the race they were once before. They kept, to a degree, the general shape that the previous race was, quadruped or bipedal, same number of arms and eyes, and so on but these features were adapted, shifted, or just left alone besides the material change bringing them to look distinctly like living plants. This appearance has led them to be mostly accepted by and confused as Dryads though many are still wary of the new people.

As Anagenasi are life created from old species, the males and females often look as different as their original race had them appear. That said, much of the primary and secondary sex characteristics are cosmetic in appearance as they are no longer mammals or givers of live birth. Instead, Anagenasi have three genders: male, female, and hermaphroditic. While other species can and have had hermaphroditic people, with the Anagenasi it is far more prevalent and on equal grounds to the two other genders. This third gender is capable of self-pollination, but many instead prefer to have another partner. Furthermore, this third gender often matches more closely to the male or female appearance and may have been exclusively male or female before the change.

Anagenasi children have only begun to take root, and quite literally. The children of the species are seeds, like Dryads and Fae, but unlike those two, the process happens more like plants and less like people -- through a Stamen and Pistil. After being pollinated, the mother will produce fruit and a seed. While this fruit can be eaten, it isn't quite sure yet what the consequences of that may end up being. But the seed is separate from the fruit and can be planted where the parents wish. Once planted, the parents need to tend to the growing child before they are capable of removing their roots and moving freely like their parents.

Culture:

The Anagenasi culture is a melting pot of diversity that was fueled by their past as members of a Seyaran city that was lost to time and then destroyed. As such, they act very much like their parent race within Seyaria.

Adaptations:

Some Anagenasi have shown a curious display that is almost like fire while others have closer ties to fungi, trees, flowers, and more. Because of this diversity even among the emulated plant type, Anagenasi have shown a vast amount of different adaptations. Scientists have begun keeping an eye on the population to learn more about what they can do.

Other Info:

  • The Anagenasi officially became a species in the seventy-eighth year of the Age of Innovation, making them one of the newest species with a large enough population to sustain themselves without outside help or further genetic creation or interference.
